Terms of Service

Last updated: September 23, 2026

Spirit World (the “Game”) is operated by James Ward (“we”, “us”). These terms are an agreement between you and us. By signing in to or playing the Game, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Game.

Who can play

You must be at least 13 years old to play. If you’re under 18 (or the age of majority where you live), you need a parent or guardian’s permission to play, and a parent or guardian must agree to these terms and make any purchase on your behalf.

Your account

You sign in with a Google or Discord account. You’re responsible for activity on your Spirit World account, so keep your sign-in account secure. Accounts are personal: don’t share, sell, or transfer yours.

The Game is in alpha

Spirit World is early, in-development software. Expect bugs, downtime, and changes. Characters, progress, items, and other game data may be changed, rebalanced, reset, or wiped, and features may be added or removed at any time.

Premium subscription

Premium currently unlocks additional regions and character slots. The content included in premium may change as the Game develops.

  • Price and renewal. Premium costs $10 USD per month, plus any applicable tax. It renews automatically every month and you’ll be charged at the start of each billing period until you cancel.
  • Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from Manage Subscription on the Game’s main menu. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you keep premium until then. You won’t be charged again after cancelling.
  • Refunds. Payments aren’t refundable for partial billing periods, except where the law requires otherwise. If you think you were charged by mistake, contact us at spiritworldroot@gmail.com and we’ll make it right.
  • EU and UK customers can cancel within 14 days of first subscribing for a full refund. Request it through Onelink support (citing “cooling off period”) or by emailing us. Premium ends when the refund is issued.
  • Price changes. If we change the price, we’ll tell you before it applies to you, and you can cancel before the new price takes effect.
  • Payments. Purchases are sold through Onelink (Sold Through Link, LLC), Stripe’s merchant-of-record service, which processes your payment, collects any sales tax or VAT, and provides billing support. Onelink’s buyer terms also apply to your purchase, and your card statement will show “LINK.COM* SPIRIT WORLD” or similar. We never see or store your full card details.

Virtual items

In-game items, currency, and characters are licensed to you for use within the Game. They have no real-world monetary value, aren’t your property, and can’t be exchanged for money. Selling or buying accounts, items, or currency for real money isn’t allowed.

Rules of conduct

Don’t:

  • harass, threaten, or abuse other players, or post hateful, sexually explicit, or illegal content;
  • use cheats, bots, automation, or third-party tools that give an unfair advantage, or deliberately abuse bugs (please report them instead);
  • attack, overload, or try to gain unauthorized access to our servers or other players’ accounts;
  • impersonate other people, including us or our moderators;
  • use offensive or misleading usernames or character names.

We may warn, mute, suspend, or ban accounts, remove content, or reset progress for breaking these rules. Serious or repeated violations can lead to a permanent ban without a refund.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you write in the Game, like chat messages and names. You give us permission to host, display, and transmit it as needed to run the Game. We may remove any content at our discretion.

Our content

The Game, including its code, art, music, and writing, belongs to us or our licensors. You may not copy, redistribute, modify, or reverse-engineer it, except as the law allows. Screenshots, videos, and streams of your own gameplay are welcome.

If you believe something in the Game infringes your copyright, email spiritworldroot@gmail.com with the details and we’ll look into it promptly.

Ending things

You can stop playing at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms. If we permanently shut down the Game, we’ll give notice where we can, cancel active subscriptions, and refund any unused prepaid subscription time.

Disclaimers

The Game is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the extent the law allows. We don’t promise that the Game will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data won’t be lost.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data or progress. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Game is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $50 USD.

Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can’t be waived by agreement.

Disputes and governing law

If you have a problem with the Game or these terms, please contact us first. Before bringing a formal claim, give us 30 days to try to resolve it informally. Either of us may bring a qualifying claim in small claims court.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we’ll let you know in the Game or on this site before it takes effect. Continuing to play after changes take effect means you accept them.
